Los Angeles’ 1st Subway Murder

SMH, yesterday New York had an Earthquake and today Los Angeles has an arrest in it’s first subway murder.

Deputies announced on Wednesday that an arrest was made in the fatal stabbing of a 59-year-old man on the Metro Red Line in Hollywood.

Authorities said 33-year-old Gene Sim was found in Buena Park and arrested without incident on Tuesday night. Deputies say he is a transient.

Sim allegedly stabbed Jesse Garay of North Hollywood after an altercation on Friday night at the Metro Red Line station at 6250 Hollywood Boulevard.

Todd Martens was one of many commuters on board who was witnessed the incident.

“When I saw (the knife), I was just kind of paralyzed, like staring at the knife,” Martens said. “And then he moved forward and I just kind of feared the worst, and the next time I looked up, the man was on the ground. Everybody was running to the back of the train.” It was the first-ever subway murder in Los Angeles.

Sim was booked for probation violation and is being held without bail Authorities say the charges for murder are pending. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
